So you’re in Atlanta, either visiting or a seasoned local, and you’re looking for Atlanta attractions for families. You’ve come to the right place! We’ve been Georgia natives for over 20 years (just outside Atlanta). And because of that, we have an inside scoop on all the best experiences and adventures Atlanta has to offer!
We’re so excited to share with you all the best attractions and adventures North Georgia and the city of Atlanta have to offer to families!
So let’s get started!
Of course, we have to start by tooting our own horn!! And not just because we want to self-promote. We really believe Callidora Ranch Adventures is one of the most unique and fun family experiences near Atlanta!
We have horseback trail riding, riding lessons, animal petting, and ATV guided ranch tours. Kids absolutely love meeting cows, piglets, and riding horses — and parents really love the educational side of things, riding horses, and ATVs! Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to take home fresh local ground beef as a souvenir from your tour of our dude ranch in Georgia!
Now that sounds like the most unique Atlanta attraction for families!
The Atlanta Zoo is a major family attraction in Atlanta. They have basically every kind of animal, EVEN Pandas! Not sure you and the kids are ready to go out today? Or even if you just want to build the hype for your kids before you visit… Check out their online Panda Cam! Its a 24/7 live-stream of their pandas just being adorable.
Their tag line couldn’t have said it better. “Where science, nature, and fun make history” is the perfect way to describe a family visit to Atlanta’s Fernbank Museum! Our family has visited several times, especially when the kids were younger. Whats more, our older kids still love to go back now for the adult nights. What can I say? You really can make fun memories at Fernbank!
Whether you want to hike, canoe, or just do some epic bird watching— the CNC is a great option for your family. As a nature exchange in the Southeast, they have protected wildlife and 127 acres of riverfront land for your family to experience safely.
Botanical Garden in Atlanta… Ugh boring much? Guess again! The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is super equipped for a fun family excursion. With a Children’s Garden, Build-a-fort Play Area, Water Painting Wall, and Splash Pad, your kids are sure to have an awesome time! Plus, they have a collection of unique wildlife, including rainbow (poisonous) frogs.
With locations all over the USA, you’ve probably already heard of Six Flags. But if you haven’t been, and if your family loves roller coasters, this is the place to check out! However, it gets incredibly hot in Atlanta. We suggest you save this for an Autumn family excursion.
The nice thing about Top Golf is that they have 5 locations in North Georgia, so you never have to drive too far to get your game on! In addition to mini golfing, they have a Kidszone so parents can rest easy and have some fun too!
Not exclusive to just Atlanta, Urban Air Adventure Park is an exciting and fun family adventure for those with high-energy kids! If you’re unfamiliar, its more than just a trampoline park. They also offer go-karts, indoor sky diving, laser tag, (mini) climbing walls, bowling, ropes courses, and so much more.
This climbing gym is one of the largest in the Southeast! They offer top-rope and lead climbing courses that go up 80 feet and onto the ceiling, kids walls, and a huge bouldering zone. You can rent gear, learn a new skill, and push your limits. Its a great trust building opportunity for the whole family!
This isn’t your average Safari experience. You can choose to either drive through the 3.5 mile long safari in your own car, or rent a Zebra van for the time you’re there! They have 75 different species of wildlife, over 400 animals, and 300 acres to tour. If you family is wanting to try something new, this is a great option.
Under new management, the Yellow River Game Ranch (now a wildlife sanctuary) is open to visitors to tour and meet the unique animals residing there. They have a wild assortment of critters, including rabbits, peacocks, and even kinkajou! I know, we haven’t heard of that one either.
As the home city of Coca-Cola, this might be the most iconically Atlanta attraction on the list! Also the fact that its right in the center of town near the aquarium and lots of tourist attractions probably helps. The most exciting part? They have a tasting room with unique coca-cola products from 64 different countries around the world! So get ready for a tummy ache, and try some soda.
If we think of the previous attraction as the most iconic, then the Atlanta High Museum of Art is probably the most sophisticated and cultural. Perfect for an educational and rainy day with the whole family .
Andretti Indoor Carting is located in Marietta just 30 minutes outside of the city, and boasts serious fun! With go-karts, laser tag, VR, simulators, and more, this is another great all day adventure for the family. We will note though, its better suited for older kids (maybe ages 8+) in our opinions.
Remember how we mentioned earlier that it’s just too hot for Six Flags in the Atlanta summer? Well, that rule doesn’t apply if you’re going to Six Flags White Water! Its one of the greatest water parks in Atlanta (possibly ever), and is friendly to all ages.
With over 200 locations in the US, this attraction isn’t just specific to Atlanta. But, its another trampoline park option! We think its better suited for older kids than younger, though they do have a toddler play area.
This might sound like a bizarre museum experience, but it offers such a creative and unique outlook on puppetry and history. It had to make our list of attractions for Atlanta families!
Sitting right at 80 acres, this tiny farm has some fun experiences for families and animal lovers alike! About an hour north of Atlanta, their focus is to educate kids and offer a fun experience. They really shine in the Autumn though! Its the fall family festival of a lifetime!
Its the ultimate indoor lego playground! Need we say more? Well we will. They also have 4D cinema, a laser ride, and even a mini replica of the city of Atlanta (made entirely of legos). Perfect for a rainy day in.
Kids under 5 are free, and ages 5-9 are only $1 each! Its your classic drive-in theatre, complete with concessions and double header movies for each screen. Give your kids a taste of history, with the new movies you’re all excited to watch!
Whew! That was quite the list. I mean, you now know about the 20 best attractions for families in Atlanta! We’re thankful you took the time to check these all out, and we hope that you’ll enjoy every minute of your experiences in Atlanta.
We also look forward to seeing you at our Dude Ranch near Atlanta, Callidora Ranch Adventures, very soon!

Hello I’m planning a family trip and will love more info on some things to do . Thanks
Each year my wife hosts a ”Cousin Camp” for our grandkids. They stay busy learning about the outdoors, country life, and Grandma’s love. This last year we brought them to the Callidora Ranch for a day. They rode horses, learned how to lasso, wrangled sheep and generally had the time of their life. They didn’t stop talking about it for the rest of the week, and at our end of Camp wrap-up, unanimously voted to do it again next year. Thanks to Raul Rivera and his very professional team at the Callidora Ranch helping us make unforgettable memories.
